Tail Ride

In Talon's story "Birth of a Prince", the idea of the tail ride was born. Here is one example, directly from the story:

"Trunks and Goten were playing a noisy game of tag throughout the house, having been prohibited from going outside due to a particularly violent thunderstorm. Gohan had wrapped Sage securely in his tail and was running around the house yelling like a chibi himself that Sage was chasing him. Sage for his part was mock-growling at Gohan and reaching for the teen in between fits of hysterical giggles. Bulma had come out from her lab with a furious look on her face, no doubt ready to lay into the boys for disturbing her, but one look at the chaos, and she had dissolved into a fit of laughter and given up, when Goku entered the room."

This drawing was done in the waiting room of the hospital, of all places. Decided to try a more cartoon style, working toward that elusive anime style.

Also decided this one would be inked so right after getting back from the hospital the inking was done using the Staedtler pigment liners. (sizes 07, 05, 01 and 005)

After working the coloured version with the screentone, decided to add the screentone to the black and white version as well.

It really adds that little extra element to the drawing.

Had to cobble the screentone together from one tiny swatch.

Decided to colour this with flat colours in a more anime style except for the gradient backgrounds and the text.

Took a lot of restraint to keep from shading with the airbrush tool in the usual way. Actually had to erase some areas and re-do them because of the subtle shading.

After completing the initial colouring decided the background needed more so added the Vejiitasei Royal Seal as a faded pattern. Adds another little bit of dimension to the image.

Also dropped the drawing down some so more room was at the top to add the "Princeling" title and the author's name. The picture is much more balanced in this version.
