This is a very old piece that has just now made it to the website.

The art on the left began as a pencil sketch, referencing an obscure doujinshi with these really skinny guys. The only part I referenced was the basic head positions and the hand. Everything else was freehand. The drawing I referenced had skinny boys so the standard DBZ muscles had to be added. This was a specific exercise in making lineart. The lines were inked with Staedtler pigment liners.

The screentoned version (right) was done in Photoshop using scans of Japanese screentones, building larger images of them, then turning them into PS patterns. This allowed me to make specific selections and fill them with the pattern of my choice.
