This
is the fourth drawing where I used photographs as part of the background.
This drawing sat in the sketchbook from May until November 2004, when it was finally pulled out, scanned and the cg completed. The drawing was scanned and adjusted so the piece had a stronger contrast than the original drawing. Photos of palm trees, taken by the onna in Hawaii and California, were used to add to the background. The sky was made with the Clouds filter in Photoshop. The textured frame, the picture title and book texts were added with Photoshop.A Photoshop built-in texture WAS used for the chaise wicker. The cushion has a light texture of bamboo leaves from a background tile, the same bamboo pattern I have used for the various seat cushions throughout this series. The graphic is from The Seam Shoppe , an excellent place to find yummy fabrics with a tropical theme. (http://www.tropicalfabricsonline.com) This became a little exercise in word play. Had to decide if I wanted to add any title to the book cover and it turned into something silly when I finally had a book name. For those who do not know the term, uke is Japanese for receptacle. In yaoi, it means the male on the bottom, the receiver, the penetrated. |
