A bit about bakayaro onna's Oekaki experience.

Maetel introduced Oekaki to the now defunct Nocturne BB back in 2002. She pointed the group to a few sites as well as setting up her own oekaki board for us to use. Drawing oekaki is very addictive.

It is an interesting concept, drawing while online then sending the image to the board for comments by other artists. You will find a lot of different kinds of oekaki applets out there, mostly in Japanese. Some of them have only basic tools while others are more sophisticated. One of the better applets out there is Oekaki Poteto. It is in English and has many options to work with to refine your drawing.
It REALLY helps to have a Wacom tablet or other graphic tablet because it is HARD to draw with a mouse.

My favorite part is watching the drawing animations of other artists when that part of the applet is available.
I love seeing how they made a particular image. I learn so much from watching the process. It is also interesting looking at the final products of others and observing what each artist did to make their unique vision of the character(s) he/she decided to draw. This will also help a novice to oekaki work toward their own style.

Of course, my oekaki are not always very anime-looking,
though they are definitely improving after doing this for a few years.
